Anyone heard about the Dean Pace upright?

Music 123 has an availability date of Nov 1st and a price of $649 (list is $999) for the 4 string. Other online dealers don’t show ship dates but most have the same $649 price. — Brian Rost Stargen, Inc.

The specifications have been released, and I have to concur, unless the production versions are completely different to the instrument described on their website, there really isn’t much point. > I was really only > interested in when it’s supposed to become available
1 Nov according to the music123. Here is something you might want to check out: http://www.music123.com/Aria-SWB-Lite-One-i101792.music It is a proven instrument, sounds cool, plays like an electric upright should and is available now. I have its bigger brother. In fact, check out the range of electric uprights at music123 – http://www.music123.com/Electric-Upright-Basses-d933.music Any of those instruments including the Kydd basses would be a better bet than the Dean as they all have a more appropriate neck radius which allows for arco playing and an upright approach to pizz. If you just want the sound of an upright, but don’t want to bow, try an Ashbory bass. — Derek — Many Hands – Trans Cultural Music from Aotearoa/New Zealand http://www.manyhands.co.nz/

But Kirk is correct in his points even if he is putting a negative spin on it. The inability to bow the Pace can be deduced from the photos which show a bass guitar bridge. Sorry, I also have no idea about avilability. Have you contacted Dean? — Brian Rost Stargen, Inc.

find. And I believe there has been a limited release as there were a few sites advertising their availability. If you are interested in a upright stick type bass check out an Ergo. They are an inexpensive stick type bass that actually functions like one. The Dean also has the wrong scale, 34", not the normal 39-42" double bass scale. Like I said, if you just want the look it is OK, just don’t expect a double bass type instrument.
