IBANEZ

Question:

i play an ibanez tr expressionist.  it’s a five string.  The best bass i’ve  ever played

Response:

TR Expressionist……I don’t believe i have seen one of those. Is that an  older model? I’d like to see one. Any suggestions where I might be able to see  a picture of it?? Ithaca, NY Bass Guitar and Tuba Ithaca College Music Education Major http://members.aol.com/TubaTodd/main.htm

Response:

Heah Man!! Yes, I remember getting a reply from you. I too have a 6 year old EX404 which  is kinda on its last legs. So, I bought an SR506 6 string. :) I took my EX and  removed the frets, added wood fill, and sanded the neck whereby making a  fretless bass. It sounds pretty good. Response:

I have a SR505 that has a new neck (don’t ask) bridge and a varimed preamp. But I have to say it still doesn’t have the range of my Tuba. But it is still alot more fun to play.

But it is still alot more fun to play. Doesn’t have the range??? What can you hit on your tuba?? I can hit a high G  above the staff (3 leger lines) and down low to an Ab on my CC tuba. What  about you?? :) PS I have a 6 string bass so it has a higher high range than I have on tuba. I’ve got an Ibanez Soundgear SR800. I love it almost as much as my fretless fender J-bass.

well.. range… after a bit of practise, everybody should end up with a 5 octave span on a standard 4 string. yes, one really has to work on flase harmonics, but after a while, these should end up sounding as pronounced as the fretted notes. just my two cents…         lc

Response:

I just picked up a SR400 a couple of months ago after banging around on a  Yamaha BB300 for 13 years.  I spent hours trying out basses before I settled  on this one, and the P/J setup on the Ibanez outperformed anything else I  played.  Nothing else matched the tone I was able to get out of it.  Even the  Alembic 6 strings sounded like mud in comparison.

I play an Ibanez EX405 5-string.
