Those Low Ds
Question:
the song in any kep. Excese the "kep". It is supposed to be "key". Got to bed at daylight. Can’t think no less type. Pt

Oh right – got you now. I wouldn’t have a need for that. Just plug the bass into the livedrive and record real bass along with the midi stuff.

I do

Same as me, pretty much, in reality. > They might have a use for a $2,000 bass, but > I never would.
I don’t have MUCH use for mine, except they look nice

I’m on the cusp of this change myself. My $2000 have been sitting, while I play my $400 Fender. Meh… When I bought my Pedulla J2000, it was a choice between that and an OLP, but the OLP’s finish was horrible. The Pedulla has a beautiful finish, wider range of tones, and one of the best fret jobs available off the wall. Thanks for not flying off the handle at my poorly worded comment, but since I faced the choice between the OLP, and the $2000 bass, and "lost"… (well, my wallet did at least) it kinda made me want to justify my blatant waste of money. Oh, but one thing the Pedulla does, that the OLP never will, is it gives me "normal" string spacing on a 5er. That is a beautiful thing. If I do end up playing mostly four string cheapies, I’m gonna have to eat some serious crow. Not looking forward to that

That was my mair reason for buying a 5 string. >A. Play nothing >B. Play them up an octave >C. Play a nearby note that works with the chord structure >D. Quit whining and either get yourself a 5 string or tune down. Of >course, as soon as you do, you will find songs with low C and C#s…. >I’m practicing songs by putting a midi into Sonar and looking at the >bass line in Staff form. I run across key changes often. It is usually done to put the song in the vocalists range. You should be able to play the song in any kep. It is much less limiting with a 5 string. Yeah, not the whole program. I like it and use it too. But not the goofy fingerings the bass neck thingy gives you.

I agree! Sonar is a great product! Not only does it help you write music, but it’s a wonderful program for teaching you to play music, too. When it comes to music, I’m one of those "ear" people, and Sonar helps me bridge the gap between what I see on the page and what I play on the keyboard — or fongerboard. I think he’s referring to the fingering suggested on the bass guitar neck. Playing around with it, I found that with one setting, I get something a little more reasonable. Zooty
