Halfrounds

Just my opinion … Halfrounds won’t sound very good slapping or popping — you want a nice set of roundwound strings for that. Halfrounds or smooth wound strings will produce a nice deep sound when plucking, but otherwise lack "punch" and other tonal qualities you may miss — certainly when slapping, and maybe even when plucking. Roundwounds are harder on the frets and the neck, but as a beginner you are not likely to notice this. You can worry about it when yer’ giggin’ 4 nites a week … The eternal search is for a good set of roundwound (or other) strings that have a nice deep yet punchy sound when plucked, and also sound snappy and clear when slapping, popping, etc. I have not found the "perfect" strings yet. Any suggestions out there? ../M. — Phone: 513-629-2436                      P.O.Box 779 Fax:   513-721-3404                      Cincinnati, OH 45201

I’m don’t know very much about playing Bass Guitar, and I have a question, perhaps some of you experts can help me. I have an Ibanez Soundgear 800, and I’ve just started playind slap and pop. Now I’ve read in a book, that it’s better to use halfround Strings, cause this would save the frets and the neck. But a friend of mine told me that halfrounds would sound poor for slaping. I still have a packet of D’Angelis (or so) smoothround strings (50’s light), and I want to know, if someone has experience with this kind of strings on an active Bass. I don’t want to test it, cause the packet is new, and if I don’t use them, I can perhaps sell’em. Sascha P.S.: Sorry for my poor english. P.S.S: I’m looking for a introduction for scales, modes etc.        If you have one, please send it per E-mail.
