Need tabs for Happy Birthday, American Anthem, etc….
Question:
>I can’t believe I just tabbed happy birthday for someone.
Neither can I. I’m sorry, but I’m going to be a bit of a musical fascist here for a second. If you can’t learn a song like Happy Birthday by ear, then you should reconsider being a musician. Yes, I realize not all of us have perfect pitch, or even relative pitch, but COME ON! We’ve all heard it a million times! Just noodle around on your bass (or whatever instrument) and figure it out! Plus, another word of unsolicited advice: LEARN TO READ MUSIC! It’s not THAT hard. And to be honest, I find tabs more confusing than notated music. Certainly not nearly as flexible. Just my completely rude and butted-in two cents… Cheers, james

I totally agree, especially when it comes to reading note lengths. They also prevent freedom in choosing where on the fingerboard (is it called that or a fretboard on a bass guitar?) to play the notes. Relying too much on tabs can be bad, especially if you’re trying to learn a song you’ve never heard before! — See ya Spud "I’ve got a bag full of Shh with your name on it!"

Try the miscellaneous section of the OLGA. Harmony Central you know. If you can’t find one open e-mail me and I’ll send you one for the National Anthem. We did a pretty cool version at a 4th of July gig. Kind of like Hendrix on bass but with the whole band. Pretty neat. Norm Share what you know. Learn what you don’t.
